it’s a really relaxed and slow weekend here. i have no plans (well, i just made plans with dh for tomorrow….not with him, but talked about them with him, LOL).
today we where home almost all day. it was a really great day. in the morning the girls made neclaces with beads, and i made a nice omellete for dh and myself. it was nice to enjoy breakfast together relaxed. then we went outdoors…i stayed in and made some food. i made cauliflower and brocolli salad (YUMMY!), and chocolate pie and cooked tapioca puddin’. dh was getting the charcoal heated for a bbq, so i new i had some time. we had a great lunch/supper, and then cleaned up and went for a drive. drove about 30 minutes, had some icecream and turned around and came home. it was nice. then we sat around and i cleaned up the basement toys. the girls played a bit of starfall, got them ready for bed…and tucked them in. now i’m waiting on the baby to get tired enough to head to bed shortly. dh made it a no tv day, so i can’t watch. LOL. (he watchs MUCH more than i do, so i don’t know if i like not being able to watch when i have the opportunity, and nothing else i can really do.) oh well.
tomorrow i hope to head to my sisters place an hour away….really looking forward to that. wanda, are you busy tomorrow? might wanna do coffee somewhere (i’ll be husband free but with three kids in tow, so any mcdonalds with a play structure would be good too). i think all i’ll do is try and find some shirts for me and do a costco run and visit.
sunday we have no plans, but i was thinking of going to dh’s parents for lunch….still have to contact them. if not, then we veg at home!
well, blessings to you all…..and
HAPPY EASTER!

lamb?
I’m not sure if I put much value in old fashioned slogans to predict my weather for the next few weeks (in like a lion, out like a lamb, or vice versa). My question is, is there some trueth to the balance of temperatures throughout the year?
When Winters in our climate are frigid and COLD, the temperatures in summer tend to get extreme in Heat. I honestly don’t know how or when I heard this, but I’m wondering if there’s any truth to it? When mild temperatures occur throughout one season, the next season tends to not have many extreme temperatures either.
I tried to google this, but came up shorthanded. Have any of you heard of this? Is there a correct term? Likely it would be scientific, and I just happened to miss it while I was walking out of the science door at school headed to the office to drop the course.
We had a great time tonight gaming with friends. Have you ever played settlers? I’m only just starting to get the hang of it…but i’m really starting to “get it”! I almost won tonight, that might be why i’m feeling confident enough to broadcast my skill level!
Friends, Fellowship and Food…what could be better? I got my ‘fix’ for a cinnamon bun, and I didn’t even have to bake a batch (when I wouldn’t have been able to stop at just one).
Not much else to share…I’ll be sure to share a bit more on the baby and the family in a bit. Enjoy your night, and we’ll see you on Wednesday!
LEMI SHINE!
I just had to get that out, thank you for listening to me, and allowing me to yell at you’all! I got THE phone call this afternoon from our local Canadian Tire, My ‘rain check’ call (or product order call). I had found out through calls to the home offices of a few major retailers in Canada, that Canadian Tire was putting out a new product for 2009. That product was Lemi Shine. I ordered it mid January, and got the call TODAY that the order was IN! Well, I saved my dishwasher load from the day for tonight, when I could finally head into town and pick this stuff up. After arriving home with my new product in hand, I ran a cycle in my dishwasher with it. And again I’ll sing REJOICE! My dishes (who’s original color had been WHITE), turned from a yellowish stained off white, to a crispy clean and SHINING WHITE! (and don’t kid yourself…the inside of the dishwasher cleaned itself!
My final answer is: LEMI SHINE WORKS!
I hear the local Canadian Tire store got a box of this stuff and is putting it out on the shelves! Go, grab it while it’s hot!
My final gratitude goes to Canadian Tire, and The Pioneer Woman who introduced me to this product. I guess I’ll go over there and thank her myself yet one of these days!
Now, i’m off to make some clean dishes dirty…I need another dishwasher load!
Outside my window…the peaceful quiet of the morning air in the country. well, and the traffic sound of those driving to and from work…along with birds, dogs, cows, and who knows what else might actually be making sounds out there!
it just LOOKS quiet and peaceful.
I am thinking…that i love mornings, but it just doesn’t seem i like them as much as i like my evenings at this point in life. once the kids are in bed, i thrive on my ME time…and my mornings seem to suffer.
I am thankful for…antibiotics for the baby.
From the kitchen…my menu planning for week 2 begins!
I am wearing…earrings and finger rings. nothing else is of relevance here.
I am creating…a paper scrapbook page i started some 3 years ago.
are you surprised, proud, or disappointed in me?
I am going…to finish my driving week with smiles on my face!
I am reading…my devotion book. i really need to start another book. guess i’ll just have to go out and get me another book one of these days.
I am hoping…and praying for the week to go smoothly. theres enough planned to fill it up…and i don’t need any distractions!
I am hearing…the cooling fan under the laptop. i like the sound.
Around the house…is the aftermath of a weekend. nothing terrible, just the aftermath!
One of my favorite things…is driving alone in my vehicle. i love the peace and quiet, or the option of listening to my kinda music.
A few plans for the rest of the week: monday night is bible study night (might not happen this week), tuesday morning is mom’s program, wednesday night is clubs for the kids, thursday is the oldest baby’s birthday with i’m sure a party or two after school, and then we’re till friday. wow, and it’s a long weekend, isn’t it!?!
Here’s a picture thought I will share with you! hope you enjoy your weekend, and the plans you have!

today i want to share with you how we choose to give of our blessing to others. no, i’m not giving you a financial statement, or suggesting how much we give vrs. others. that’s not relevant, or of importance.
i received an update letter this week, and was inspired by it to share with others the work that goes on in the world to help others, and how we choose to participate in it at this stage in our life. we all need to give of ourselves in some way, and while some do it physically by going out on mission trips, others do it financially by donating sums of money to causes.
we have chosen to support a mission called MCC global family program. it stands for Mennonite Central Committee. they work all over the world, giving humanitarian aide where needed. when there’s been a disaster of any sort (even locally), they will reach out and send in the troops to help.
we chose to focus our support on communities in paraguay. the focus in these communities is on educating children, and young adults in literature and life skills. it’s also focusing on childcare for mothers who need to work or build life skills to meet their families needs (as single parents).
we’ve done this for many years, and one of the main reasons i chose this form of giving, was that it gave to a broader outlook than just a sponsorship of one child. at this stage in life, with children of our own, i would love to consider having sponsorship of a child. this would give the girls some excitement in corresponding, and also educating them in the amazing feeling of giving and helping someone. i see it in our future, as the girls get older and can comprehend the idea of money and it’s worth a little more. this would make the concept of giving sink in. my main issue with some of the organizations who run these sponsorship programs is their high admiministration costs, and the amount of junk mail you sign up for, requesting more and more giving. i know that through mcc there is the possibility of child sponsorship (called indivisual assistance, and can be chosen from any country mcc is in). my second choice would have to be compassion canada.
do you have a way of giving? do you choose to give of yourself, of your finances, or by donating items? it’s amazing what rewards can be received when we think of others before ourselves. we’re blessed beyond measure in our society, and it takes so little to help someone in need. be inspired, and follow God’s leading in your heart to give!
here’s a wonderful story of how someone i know opened her ears and listened to God, and gave. truely inspiring, and truely wonderful!

FOR TODAY Monday, January 5, 2009…
Outside my window…the glistening glow of pink snow as the morning sun stretches out over the world with it’s bright radiance and glory.
I am thinking…and praying for a smooth transition back into routine for the whole family.
I am thankful for…the wonderful holidays in the past two weeks for all of us!
From the learning rooms…back to the old grind of learning how to completely and wholey serve my family in my daily routines and meanderings.
From the kitchen…cleanliness, and simplicity. we’re hoping to have sandwichs for lunch and taco soup for supper. off to get the last one started to simmer for me this afternoon. ![]()
I am wearing…cozy pants, and a green shirt (inside out…is that still style? cause i strive to be in style while working at home), and cozy grey sox.
I am creating…routines…ones that we can accomplish and succeed at!
I am going…NO WHERE today! i don’t have to drive kindergarten kids today! yeah!
I am reading…still the john grisham book….still don’t know the title.
i am further than chapter one tho! ![]()
I am hoping…and praying that dh has a great first day back at work after two weeks of holidays.
and that his job security remains as God sees fit.
I am hearing…my laptop cooling plate doing it’s job without the laptop on it. LOL. i’ll set it back on there once i’m done typing. ![]()
Around the house…chaos. simple, pure, distinctly messy chaos. i’de be out of a job if it wasn’t so! ![]()
One of my favorite things…silence. i won’t have that till much later today…but i can’t wait! is it 9 pm yet?
A few plans for the rest of the week: driving the kindy kids, enjoying being at home on routine, picking up my not sold items i brought to a consignenment store (time’s up), pulling a tooth. (literally, LOL)
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
(edited using PSE and some action i downloaded from a website called coffeeshopphotography)
thanks for stopping by!
- it was REALLY cold, but we braved it, and had loads of FUN!

January 1, 2009. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
WOW, isn’t it amazing how the years fly by as you get older? I’m not old by any means, LOL, but they sure don’t drag like they did when I was just a wee little tike!
I look in anticipation at the events scheduled in the new year, (it looks kinda empty, but I know each week will fill up fast)
Family Birthday’s (our oldest turning 6, and the youngest will turn 1. Dh and I will both turn 33)
New Family pictures (here’s to dreaming!)
Weekend getaway to the City with friends
All the regular scheduled appt.’s (dentist, doctor, chiro, etc)
Kindergarten for the second daughter (wow, that didn’t take long…i’m kind of scared actually)
A day retreat with the Ladies of the Church
The Kids Clubs Program resuming it’s weekly event
Camping with the kids…and all of us enjoying it!
Dh’s work continuing, or the Lord providing a new alternative
More time with my parents and DH’s parents
Renewed relationships with sibblings. (and more effort and interest on everyone’s part)
And most of all, making memories in the everyday things. Memories that will last a lifetime.
I remember with fond memories some events from the last 365 days:
The first day of kindergarten.
Putting our first child on the school bus for the first time (as much as it scared me, I pray for her to grow and learn)
Birthday’s (dh and my 32!)
The birth of our third daughter
Camping with a new baby
The purchase of a van (still can’t really believe how I convinced dh…well, i shouldn’t really take the credit, it goes to his good friend Pete)
Thanks Pete
A quick recovery after our third child.
My health, and my families health.
Our annual trip to the Hills for a ‘hike’ and picnic with friends.
The valuable time my children have had with grandparents and aunts/uncles
Taking a road trip to my sisters and BIL’s for Easter with my family
Taking a weekend getaway to Grand Forks as a family.
And so much more! Take some time to browse this year in review collage! Ask me if you have any questions!

not in cronological order, just random shots of the year
Since missing this post last week due to Christmas, I will join in on Monday’s starting today. :)
FOR TODAY Monday, December 29, 2008…
Outside my window…oh sunny, sunny day! (not sure who sings that…but i usually do on sunny days. :-) ) i’m wishing for a day filled with sunshine.
I am thinking…the holiday’s are not over yet! dh is still home this week! yeehaw!
I am thankful for…the family time we’ve shared so far. and the fun day we spent at home Sunday. Just chillin’
From the learning rooms…well, i’ve learned all kinds this week, but i can’t really pinpoint anything in particular! LOL. oh, tomorrow’s post will be a learning experience! stay tuned!
From the kitchen… a whole lotta love. i’ve been keeping up with the demand. that’s about it i think. nothing special. i will shop a bit of groceries today i hope. that should help put some cooking motivation back into me!
I am wearing…earrings. i always wear earrings.
I am creating…cleanliness. in my home, in my heart, and in those around me. watch out, or i’ll sweep you up! :)
I am going…going…going…and GONE!
I am reading…oh no, i’m still here. LOL. I’m reading a john grisham book….can’t remember the title. i put it in my stocking…:-) so i got it for christmas. :-) so far so good. nothing AMAZING yet, but i think i’m only on chapter 2.
I am hoping…to eat more fish. my husband SHOULD be bringing them home one of these days! i did have some wonderful salmon at Boston Pizza the other night. Hmmm…..kinda gave the the hankerin’ for more fish instead of fixin’ a craving! LOL.
I am hearing…the dishwasher. and the furnace. and the fridge. i love those sounds. life would sure be silent without them. can you imagine how silent life would have been 80 years ago? only the sound of fire burning to keep you warm, and possibly the rocking chair rocking on a hard wood floor.
Around the house…are those i love. deeply, selflessly, purely, and purposely. simply blessed. i pray everyone can feel this blessing in their lives in some form.
One of my favorite things…is time with my husband. the second favorite thing is time with my girls. the third favorite thing….time with me! :) so, here i sit by myself enjoying some me time!
A few plans for the rest of the week: is doing more of the top three favorite things listed above!
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
