it’s a really relaxed and slow weekend here. i have no plans (well, i just made plans with dh for tomorrow….not with him, but talked about them with him, LOL).
today we where home almost all day. it was a really great day. in the morning the girls made neclaces with beads, and i made a nice omellete for dh and myself. it was nice to enjoy breakfast together relaxed. then we went outdoors…i stayed in and made some food. i made cauliflower and brocolli salad (YUMMY!), and chocolate pie and cooked tapioca puddin’. dh was getting the charcoal heated for a bbq, so i new i had some time. we had a great lunch/supper, and then cleaned up and went for a drive. drove about 30 minutes, had some icecream and turned around and came home. it was nice. then we sat around and i cleaned up the basement toys. the girls played a bit of starfall, got them ready for bed…and tucked them in. now i’m waiting on the baby to get tired enough to head to bed shortly. dh made it a no tv day, so i can’t watch. LOL. (he watchs MUCH more than i do, so i don’t know if i like not being able to watch when i have the opportunity, and nothing else i can really do.) oh well.
tomorrow i hope to head to my sisters place an hour away….really looking forward to that. wanda, are you busy tomorrow? might wanna do coffee somewhere (i’ll be husband free but with three kids in tow, so any mcdonalds with a play structure would be good too). i think all i’ll do is try and find some shirts for me and do a costco run and visit.
sunday we have no plans, but i was thinking of going to dh’s parents for lunch….still have to contact them. if not, then we veg at home!
well, blessings to you all…..and
HAPPY EASTER!

My husband loves to fish. In my eyes, he’s got his fishing season TOTALLY messed up. He rarely fishes on the open water in the summer time, even though he ventured out and bought himself a fishing boat a few years back. He chooses to fish in the biter cold of our Manitoba winters.
Our open waters usually are frozen over and can be driven on by the end of November. (but don’t kid yourself, i fight him tooth and nail to keep him OFF the ice as long as possible. for his safety.
) Their icefishing shack from the previous years had had it’s last season, last season, and needed to be replaced. They came up with a design of putting a floor and one solid wall on a 10×10 canvas ’shed’. It didn’t take them long to get the wall and floor built, and then another day to get the unit hauled out to the ice and set up.
It must be really cozy in there (i still haven’t made it out, as i don’t enjoy being on ice…no matter how thick they tell me it is), since the husband and friends go out as often as possible!
So, you ask is my freezer stocked with fish? My reply. No. I honestly wish! I love eating fish, but, apparently the season locally hasn’t been that great yet. We’re still hoping for it to pick up! So far, they hardly catch enough to give them a food supply while out for a day.
Tip-ups to you and yours!
FOR TODAY Monday, January 5, 2009…
Outside my window…the glistening glow of pink snow as the morning sun stretches out over the world with it’s bright radiance and glory.
I am thinking…and praying for a smooth transition back into routine for the whole family.
I am thankful for…the wonderful holidays in the past two weeks for all of us!
From the learning rooms…back to the old grind of learning how to completely and wholey serve my family in my daily routines and meanderings.
From the kitchen…cleanliness, and simplicity. we’re hoping to have sandwichs for lunch and taco soup for supper. off to get the last one started to simmer for me this afternoon. ![]()
I am wearing…cozy pants, and a green shirt (inside out…is that still style? cause i strive to be in style while working at home), and cozy grey sox.
I am creating…routines…ones that we can accomplish and succeed at!
I am going…NO WHERE today! i don’t have to drive kindergarten kids today! yeah!
I am reading…still the john grisham book….still don’t know the title.
i am further than chapter one tho! ![]()
I am hoping…and praying that dh has a great first day back at work after two weeks of holidays.
and that his job security remains as God sees fit.
I am hearing…my laptop cooling plate doing it’s job without the laptop on it. LOL. i’ll set it back on there once i’m done typing. ![]()
Around the house…chaos. simple, pure, distinctly messy chaos. i’de be out of a job if it wasn’t so! ![]()
One of my favorite things…silence. i won’t have that till much later today…but i can’t wait! is it 9 pm yet?
A few plans for the rest of the week: driving the kindy kids, enjoying being at home on routine, picking up my not sold items i brought to a consignenment store (time’s up), pulling a tooth. (literally, LOL)
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
(edited using PSE and some action i downloaded from a website called coffeeshopphotography)
thanks for stopping by!
- it was REALLY cold, but we braved it, and had loads of FUN!

January 1, 2009. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
WOW, isn’t it amazing how the years fly by as you get older? I’m not old by any means, LOL, but they sure don’t drag like they did when I was just a wee little tike!
I look in anticipation at the events scheduled in the new year, (it looks kinda empty, but I know each week will fill up fast)
Family Birthday’s (our oldest turning 6, and the youngest will turn 1. Dh and I will both turn 33)
New Family pictures (here’s to dreaming!)
Weekend getaway to the City with friends
All the regular scheduled appt.’s (dentist, doctor, chiro, etc)
Kindergarten for the second daughter (wow, that didn’t take long…i’m kind of scared actually)
A day retreat with the Ladies of the Church
The Kids Clubs Program resuming it’s weekly event
Camping with the kids…and all of us enjoying it!
Dh’s work continuing, or the Lord providing a new alternative
More time with my parents and DH’s parents
Renewed relationships with sibblings. (and more effort and interest on everyone’s part)
And most of all, making memories in the everyday things. Memories that will last a lifetime.
I remember with fond memories some events from the last 365 days:
The first day of kindergarten.
Putting our first child on the school bus for the first time (as much as it scared me, I pray for her to grow and learn)
Birthday’s (dh and my 32!)
The birth of our third daughter
Camping with a new baby
The purchase of a van (still can’t really believe how I convinced dh…well, i shouldn’t really take the credit, it goes to his good friend Pete)
Thanks Pete
A quick recovery after our third child.
My health, and my families health.
Our annual trip to the Hills for a ‘hike’ and picnic with friends.
The valuable time my children have had with grandparents and aunts/uncles
Taking a road trip to my sisters and BIL’s for Easter with my family
Taking a weekend getaway to Grand Forks as a family.
And so much more! Take some time to browse this year in review collage! Ask me if you have any questions!

not in cronological order, just random shots of the year
FOR TODAY Friday, December 19, 2008…
Outside my window…Darkness, Crispy Cold Air, Birds waking up, and peace. As much peace as this world will probably ever see.
I am thinking…I love my life. I’m truely blessed.
I am thankful for…my faithful husband, my loving daughters, my quite hours.
From the learning rooms…right now, i’m learning more about photoshop express, as mentioned in my previous post!
From the kitchen…peanut butter and grape jam sandwhichs. i hope to upgrade that to turkey sandwhichs today. :)
I am wearing…my morning cloths.
I am creating…memories. i pray they’re good for all those around me too!
I am going…to the dentist with dd this morning.
I am reading…nothing, but i did buy a book by John Grisham yesterday!
I am hoping…to read a book over christmas! you think i can do it? in between my husbands icefishing, and my sister being out for a week, i think i should be able to squeeze some me time in, right?
I am hearing…the nice warm air pushing thru the furnace vents. ahhh….warmth. I’m truely blessed. Thank you Jesus for all you have blessed us with!
Around the house…work. My job. I love my job. Even if some days i complain a little. I know, you never hear it…LOL. but i do, honestly! :)
One of my favorite things…reality, and being real, and honesty, and being honest. well, keeping in mind others do have a heart and a soul. we don’t need to crush someones heart just for the sake of honesty. :)
A few plans for the rest of the weekend: i’m hoping to spend some quality time in a ice shack. some quality hour or so…THEN, i hope to spend the rest of my quality time in the warmth of a house. mine or anyone elses! :)
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
this video is of my baby girl exploring her gums where she popped out her first tooth last weekend! (sorry for the bad lighting…) thanks for watching!
I’m not much of a software geek, but I do LOVE to learn new stuff. I love to play around till I figure things out and am comfortable with it. THEN I tend to head out and find tutorials to teach me the extras.
Well, I’ve been looking for an upgrade for my photo editing software. I’m using Microsoft Digital Image (suite 2006). Microsoft doesn’t make the software anymore. I loved how easy it was to learn, and navigate through. I have tried the free trial version of Photoshop, but ultimately didn’t use it enough during the month to really appreciate it. In all honesty, it seems to be the only thing out there (the elements version) that would be able to replace and also be an upgrade from my Microsoft software.
Photoshop elements 7 is on my wish list for Christmas, so we’ll see if I can figure it out after Christmas! ;)
Now, onto my NEWS…
HAVE YOU HEARD about the Photoshop Express?
I was told about it yesterday as I was browsing at the local Staples store. The kind sales man showed told me about it. He explained it to be an on-line version that allowed you to edit your photo’s on-line… honestly, I’m not sure what happens after that, but I’m going to find out!
I’ve uploaded a few pictures, pictures that need some major help due to bad lighting situations. I’ll be back to give you MY review (sorry, i don’t have it all done and ready for you yet!) But, don’t let that stop you from going over there and trying it yourself! Or, had you ALREADY heard? Be sure to come back here and let me know what you think! Please? LOL. Thanks!
All right. I’m off to PLAY! :)
UPDATE: ok, so I played a little. here’s a picture before and after I did online. I also found out once you’ve logged in, you can download the pictures back to any computer, which would be kind of a nice option. I’m still figuring it out, but i’m sort of impressed with it’s capabilities. It doesn’t have huge options, but for basics, it’s good!
FOR TODAY Friday, December 12, 2008…
Outside my window…cool crisp air, and a beautiful soft snow on the ground.
I am thinking…heading to town today to run a few errands and pick up the kindergarten kids.
I am thankful for…MIL who will watch the girls tnight while we and the baby head to dh’s work banquet.
From the learning rooms…i’ve been creating a few christmas cards using my MDIS program (microsoft digital image suite), and it’s been SO fun learning…and it’s amazing me more and more how easy its getting to do digi ’scrapping’ and designing. i want PS so badly now (photoshop)
From the kitchen…no cooking tnight! but the week’s been kinda slack in that area as well. i WILL be more productive in the kitchen next week.
I am wearing…the armor of the Lord
I am creating…a negative atmosphere in the home…i need to work on that.
I am going…to stop being so ’short’ and give myself some time before responding to ANY situation.
I am reading…nadda. nothing. i really should, like i always say, or maybe i should just erase this question. LOL.
I am hoping…that the baby will behave tnight at dh’s work banquet. i really was hoping she would stay with someone…but we have noone who she isn’t shy with. ![]()
I am hearing…the baby waking up and the middle dd watching toons. oh, the fridge just kicked in too. good thing, cause i like my milk COLD.
Around the house…things are ok. finished laundry, and will do the dishes today. i won’t talk about all the things i want to change. really, i won’t.
One of my favorite things…is a brandnew house. then i wouldn’t have to whine about all the things i would like to ‘renovate’
A few plans for the rest of the weekend: well, we have a free movie matinee this weekend, and Horton Hears a Who is playing. can’t wait to see that with the dd’s tmorrow. we have our second family gathering on sunday. looking forward to that. my oldest sister is coming out saturday, looking forward to that.
dh’s banquet tnight, kinda looking forward to that. what are YOU doing?
Here is picture thought I am sharing…

loaded on dh's truck is his iceshack floor and one wooden wall, and the frame for the canvas 'garage' he's using as the other 3 walls. 10x10, should have room for the whole family!
Well, we’ve got the majority of our ‘extra’ events underway or out of the way. One banquet and one gathering before the Christmas week events.
The girls and I have worked hard at preparing for these events, baking, decorating, and shopping. We’ve simplified our gift giving quite a bit this year, as we try and do every year. (some years are easier than others, and some people are easier than others to simplify). We have a few more gifts to purchase, and we hope to get that done this week!
Here’s a few pictures of the look of christmas around our home!
What does Christmas look like at your house? Do you have a nativity scene? I’ve yet to find one that fits our ‘decor’ and our budget. Also one that would be kid friendly. I would love for the girls to be able to play the chrismtas story with the figurines.

well, i’ve introduced you to our oldest two daughters, and today want to focus on our last child. the youngest of the family. the baby. alison summer. as hard as it was to come up with two names daddy and i both liked for the THIRD girl…i’m still really happy with the names we chose. (and hope you love them thru your life too!) we struggled with the middle name, and came home with the papers ’cause we couldn’t decide before it was time to leave the hospital. LOL. well, needless to say the nurse the next morning didn’t appreciate us taking her paperwork home, so we ended up having to ‘rush’ our decision on your second name. we thought it fitting in every way!
she’s 5 months today. she’s grown so much in the last 5 months. it’s simply amazing what all happens in a babies first few months of their life. it’s weird how you think the first few months of a babies life drag a bit, and suddenly they’re climbing the bus to kindergarten. the third baby is a bit easier to ’slow’ down in rushing the milestone acheivements. i’m totally ok with her staying small for a while longer. maybe she can sense that, and is responding with a shyness that only mom or dad can fix.
i hope to document some milestones to remember. the kinds of things that slip the mind two minutes after they happen! LOL.
k, so with my good but short memory, let me recollect the last 2 minutes with ali.
- you’ve rolled over on your own about 3 or 4 times.
- you are the shyest kid we’ve had to date. so shy we don’t leave you with a sitter unless we’re guanrenteed you’re sleeping.
- you laugh and giggle at your sisters ALL the time. and they are driven to silliness by your giggles
- you kick harder and have excited noises when your sisters are in the same room as you
- you’re eating cereal, veggies, and some fruit a few times a day.
- you’ve been on formula most of your life (but don’t kid yourself, mom worked HARD to give you some valuable nursing time in your first few weeks of life)
- you love your crib (for sleeping)
- you can turn circles on your back in your crib if mom doesn’t come get you once you’ve woken up
- you’re so big already…and seem to grow daily
- you want mom’s food when you sit on her lap while she eats
- you’re in 6-9 month cloths
- you’re MUCH better at car rides than you where the first 3.5 months of your life
- you can entertain yourself pretty well, and chew on EVERYTHING
- you have no teeth yet, but drool like there’s no tomorrow
- you smile and laugh all the time
- you play strange to anyone other than mom, dad and your sisters
- in the first few months, you would grab the hair on the top of your head and pull, making yourself cry yet never letting go of the hair on your own.
- you where born with dark beautiful hair.
- you resemble each of your sisters in a perfect combination of your own beauty
- you bring out the best in us, by showing us how to totally rely on someone other than ourselves.
- you’re an amazing gift to each of us, and we can’t wait to build our relationship with you as you grow!
we love you ali, and pray that you’ll keep growing, keep loving, keep learning, keep teaching and keep showing us the innocent love of a child.
here’s a picture collage of ali (and a pregnant mom in labor at the hospital hours before you appeared)

hope i didn't get anyone on the net who didn't want to be here....tell me if you want me to take pictures of you or loved ones off.
We had a Birthday bash here most of last week wednesday. Kaylee, our middle daughter, turned the big 4. She was super excited. It was a bit of a busy day. We headed to Walmart in the morning for a photo session. Then we picked up her birthday cake (hello kitty) from Co-op, and picked up her sister from Kindy. We went thru the drive-thru at McDonalds and came home for lunch. After lunch we had some of her friends over for a party! It was super fun, and we played a great game of musical chairs, had some cake, and played! Some mom’s stuck around and visited with me while the kids played. It was Super FUN! I’ve included a picture collage of some of the highlights.
we had too many pictures to pick from, but I loved her expression on these pictures. Enjoy!
