Hey all!

It’s been an amazing summer/spring so far!  I’ll share a few pictures of what’s been happening here since my last post!

Hope you all had a great Canada Day!  We sure did, and are so blessed to live in a Country like we do!  God Bless Canada, our home and native land.

all pictures are straight from my camera…don’t edit unless i print them.  :-) (usually)

it seems like forever since i’ve been here.  and i guess it kinda has been.

honestly, i have no excuse really.  i’m just encouraged that for a short moment in my life i didn’t have much to say!  LOL.  that doesn’t happen too often.

it has been a bit busy as well.  spring always does that here.  i have a garden, we have a huge lawn to mow, fishing season starts, evenings are spent outdoors till sunset, and time just seems to FLY.

i hope to hop in here over the summer, but i really won’t have a whole lot to share, i’m predicting.  :)  do you believe me?  LOL.

here’s some pictures of what’s been keeping ups busy the last few months.

thanks for your faithfulness in checking in on us and for all you do to bless our lives!

ok…i’ve no idea how to really spell that out, but you get the jiff.  that oldies song about monday’s.  LOL.

most can’t grasp my excitement over monday’s.  i don’t really know if i understand it myself.  but, for some reason, i thrive on monday’s.  don’t get me wrong.  by thrive, i don’t mean i’m super mom, wife, sister and aunt.  by thrive, i mean i don’t have any obligations, guilt, or expectations!  it’s my day to recover from the weekend.  some weekends i need it more than others, but i always tend to take some time to settle into the week.  time to reflect on what we did as a family over the weekend, how it worked for us, and what we came out feeling like.

usually weekends tend to be either of two extremes.  great, or bombed.  lately i can’t say this has been the case!  i’ve thoroughly enjoyed not much of anything, living spontaneously, and going with the flow.  low key one day, and insanely busy the next.  i’m learning to love the spontaneity in life, and embracing it with open arms.  it leaves no room for worry, stress, or chaos.  it means get up and go.  don’t look back.

isn’t life so much more enjoyable when we don’t look back?  moving on.  starting fresh.  taking it as it comes.  learning to lean on the future.  marveling in it’s mystery.

Oh Lord, how i long to be mature enough in my faith to have the peace that passes all understanding.  to be content with who i am, as you made me.  to not expect less than what your desire is, and to have the faith that you want it for me too!  thank you for the grace you’ve given to me as i have come to the maturity i am at now!  praise be to you!

now, what on earth are we doing this coming weekend?  LOL.  i guess we’ll see once we get there!  :)

sleeping in a freshly washed, or freshly sunned blanket has got to be the best feeling in the world.  i grew up with mom drying most of the cloths on the line.  in the winter she would also freeze dry many items.  blankets where sunned more

than washed.  they where taken in and placed on freshly washed sheets.  sheets that had been dried outdoors.  climbing into bed, i would inhale as deeply as possible…..and hold that breath.

sunning my blankets happens less than i would like it to, but when i do remember to do it…i can’t wait to climb into bed.  last week i did just that.  i washed some blankets, and sunned them outside to dry.

i can smell it now….sniffffffffffffffffff

do you sun your blankets?

not my photo...grabed it from webshots. The skies have been overcast the last few days, and it’s made me seek comfort.  I didn’t overindulge on comfort food, but have been craving meatloaf, kraft dinner, and chips.  (did have some chips with taco salad last night :)  )

I don’t mind overcast…it has it’s perks.  The drizzles stopped almost as soon as they started, so it’s not impossible to be outdoors.  It has a peaceful feeling and a comfort to it for me.

Do you enjoy overcast skies?

not my picture...found it on the link you get when you click the picture. :)it sure feels like a tuesday here.   with there being no school monday, my schedule and system is all messed up.

today doesn’t seem like it’s been too productive, but what day is in the life of a stay at home mom of 3?  i have some projects on the list, and hope to get to that one of these days.

yesterday i started a project (not on any list of course), and dug in the soil for a bit.  i raked and pruned.  i trimed and dug.  i was in heaven!  the girls, dh and I where all outdoors after supper last night.  the husband was shooting cans (sounds a little redneck, but no, our house doens’t have wheels), and the girls where drawing with sidewalk chalk, playing with bikes and strollers, and chasing after each other.

it was a purely blissful day!

does this mean summer’s on the way?  truely?  :)

It’s just the regular ‘monday’ stuff here, but for some reason we’re on tuesday already.  LOL.

Yesterday I thought about what I was reading.  I have been on a reading marathon the last little while, and It seems I haven’t researched my choices before purchasing them.

With the hunger to read frivolous and mindless books for a change, I must admit I have made a few bad choices of books in the last little while.  It wasn’t that I chose these books purposely, I still will never do that.  I just didn’t put the book down when I should have.  One was from the dollar store locally, and had one ‘romance’ scene in it with too much detail.  The other was a Nora Roberts book from Costco.  I had heard of the author, but had never read a book.  Needless to say, I won’t be purchasing or borrowing one of hers again.  As I finished the story line (skimming the detailed parts), I realized that these books are no more or less detailed than the average chic flick.  There is so much description in the books and movies these days it’s unreal.  We always think it’s the men in life that have the issues with lust and dare I say the word (soft) porn.  I would have to say that many of the books and movies out there that women flock to give us a warped image of romance.  I don’t know where I’m going with this yet, but I do know I will be more careful and more thoughtful in my selection of books and movies in the future.  I will not allow my girls to watch some of the movies I have, or read these books in the future, so what makes it right for me?   I don’t know if I can touch on the topic of Christian Romance books…yeah, I will say, from my experience I have had to eliminate those books from my life as well.  They have caused me to have expectations of my marriage and my man that are unrealistic.  All good ideas, and all super if they are in a marriage, but when I constantly have ideas and ideals thrown at me from books, it’s really hard not to have those expectations in my marriage and in my man.   It’s hard to live in the reality of my life…and savor in the romance we do share.

I think i’ll have to stick to self help books.  Mystery books?  I’m not sure…

What do you read?  Do you find you live in a fantasy world after reading a book?  What brings you back to reality after?

My mom always told me that there was a rule to when we where allowed to wear bare feet. Any month that had an ‘R’ in it required shoes on the feet (flipflops where allowed near the end of the month early in the year, and in the beginning of the month at the end of the year). That meant, May/June/July/August where months in the green, and September/October/November/December/January/February/March/April where in the red. I LOVEd bare feet, and fought this every year.
I think I have finally defeated the fact that I too needed to follow mom’s rule. LOL. No, don’t get me wrong, I think there was some value to it, and I still think I personally wouldn’t wear bare feet without flipflops this time of year…but why put a rule on it? It just means we want to break it all the more. Once the ground is warm enough for the feet to not freeze in a few minutes, lets go!
This last week I was challenged by my mom on this one. I allowed the girls to run around with flip flops outdoors. The reason this came about was quite innocent. We had no fancy sox or tights for the girls last sunday, so they ran around at the Church Easter program meal with shoes and bare feet. Needless to say, the friction caused a few blisters to appear throughout the week. This led to some struggles with shoes. That’s why we broke the rules. I promise mom. :)

it’s a really relaxed and slow weekend here. i have no plans (well, i just made plans with dh for tomorrow….not with him, but talked about them with him, LOL).

today we where home almost all day. it was a really great day. in the morning the girls made neclaces with beads, and i made a nice omellete for dh and myself. it was nice to enjoy breakfast together relaxed. then we went outdoors…i stayed in and made some food. i made cauliflower and brocolli salad (YUMMY!), and chocolate pie and cooked tapioca puddin’. dh was getting the charcoal heated for a bbq, so i new i had some time. we had a great lunch/supper, and then cleaned up and went for a drive. drove about 30 minutes, had some icecream and turned around and came home.  it was nice. then we sat around and i cleaned up the basement toys. the girls played a bit of starfall, got them ready for bed…and tucked them in. now i’m waiting on the baby to get tired enough to head to bed shortly.  dh made it a no tv day, so i can’t watch. LOL. (he watchs MUCH more than i do, so i don’t know if i like not being able to watch when i have the opportunity, and nothing else i can really do.) oh well.

tomorrow i hope to head to my sisters place an hour away….really looking forward to that. wanda, are you busy tomorrow? might wanna do coffee somewhere (i’ll be husband free but with three kids in tow, so any mcdonalds with a play structure would be good too). i think all i’ll do is try and find some shirts for me and do a costco run and visit.

sunday we have no plans, but i was thinking of going to dh’s parents for lunch….still have to contact them. if not, then we veg at home!

well, blessings to you all…..and

HAPPY EASTER!

I have a few wreaths to decorate my front door with for the season.  So far I have a fall wreath and a Christmas Wreath.  I dream of getting a few more to keep one on the door through all the seasons.  Here are some I dream of having for spring!  What kind would you choose?

I’ll start with my all time favorite….the pussywillow wreath.  :)

Morning!  I’m not here to share any huge project progress report, but rather a short sweet note on our progress into spring report.

Here’s what we see outside our window today.  Is it me, or are we headed in the wrong direction?  Are we going one step forward to only take two steps back?

If anyone has any idea what’s going on…fill me in!  Till then, i’m off to a game of fox and goose in the snow.  :)
